Work and Equipment Table

This table was constructed for use in holding work pieces and equipment during the construction of projects. The 4 foot by 4 foot table was constructed from scrap 2x4's, and scrap 1/2" thick plywood.

Materials
8 - 2"x4"'s 31-1/2" long.
4 - 2"x4"'s 46-1/2" long.
1 - 1/2" thick plywood cut 48" x 48" square.
20 - number 8 screws 2-1/2 inches long.
24 - 8 penny nails.

The 4"x4" legs were constructed by nailing two 31-1/2" long 2x4's together with 8 penny nails.
Screw one of the 46-1/2" 2x4 side rails to two of the 31-1/2" legs with 5 number 8 2-1/2" screws. Be sure the top of the side rail is flush with the top of the legs and the end of the side rail extends 1-3/4" on one leg and is flush with the end of the other leg. (see figure 1.) Repeat this with the other side rail and legs. Screw one of the remaining rails to the leg with the side rail extended such that this side rail butts against the extended rail and is flush with the top of the leg and side rail. Screw to the leg the other end of this side rail flush with the end of the side rail on the second piece. Be sure the end of the side rail butts up to the edge of the other side rail. (see figure 2) Repeat the remaining side rail attachment. This will form the base of the table.
Cut the 1/2" thick plywood 48"x48" and attach on top of the side rails with number 8 1-1/2" wood screws.
The table was finished with several coats of ebony stain.
