This project arose out of the need to organize the CD roms in the computer room. A large one would not fit into the limited space so a smaller one was built out of wood scraps.
Materials
2 - 1/2" Dowel rods cut to 18" long.
2 - 1"X8" cut to a width of 7-1/4" and a length of 8"
Cut both dowel rods 18" long.
Drill the first hole in the 1x8 so that the center of the 1/2" hole is 1" from the front and 2-1/8"
from the bottom on each board. Drill the second hole in the 1x8 so that the center of the 1/2" hole
is 6-1/4"from the front and 4-1/4" from the bottom on each board. Insert the dowel rods in respective
holes. This will form a sort of a vee shaped cradle for the cd's to rest on.
Finish the rack with silver spray paint.
Since the space in this rack has filled up another rack made as above was constructed. The second
rack was pinned to the first with dowel rods. Two holes were drilled into the top to the first rack
such that the center of the holes were half way from the edges of the board and were 1/3 the distance
from the front and back. A dowel rod marking guide was used to locate the center of the holes for the
top unit and the holes were drilled to accommodate a wooden dowel pin. The dowel pins were glued in
place to the top of the lower rack and friction fitted to the upper rack. that way the upper could be
removed from the lower and two racks could be used as such.
